Our Shetland yarn comes from the J C Rennie mill near Aberdeenshire, where they have been manufacturing yarn since 1798. The Shetland yarn we use is called Supersoft, meaning it has been produced using a blend of Lambswool. This makes the yarn softer and finer and helps to create exceptionally high quality garments.
Fair Isle is a traditional knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colours. It is named after Fair Isle, a tiny island in the north of Scotland, that forms part of the Shetland islands
Knitwear design for me is all about the combination of construction, materials, textures, colours and patterns. The freedom to be able to design every aspect and see these elements come together in one garment that is comfortable, flattering and stylish is why I do what I do.
Designed and handcrafted in the Polly Purl studio in London, each piece is a limited edition, with no more than four ever being made. Polly Purl cares about what we make. Production is as eco-friendly as possible and we provide as much information as possible on how items are sourced and produced.
